Whalen Furniture Sues Three For Patent Infringement
Whalen Furniture Mfg., Inc. (San Diego, CA) sued three companies in three different lawsuits filed simultaneously on June 5, 2012 in the United States District Court for the Central District of California. Whalen is accusing Bell'O International Corp., TechCraft Manufacturing, Inc., and Walker Edison Furniture Co., LLC of infringing U.S. Patent No. 8,191,485 entitled "Television Support and Mounting Kit" ("the '485 Patent").
The '485 Patent is directed to a universal TV support and mounting kit that allows a consumer to employ any of three modes of support: (1) stand mount, (2) console mount, and (3) wall mount. As furniture incorporates more and more technology, and as technology infiltrates more aspects of our lives and products, more utility patents and infringement suits will be seen in the furniture industry.
